Hancock (Ebenezer) House is built.

1767

(ca.) Designed in the Georgian style, the brick building is located at 10 Marshall Street. Built on property inherited by John Hancock, it is occupied by his brother and serves as the paymaster of the Colonial Army during the Revolution. The building is purchased by merchant Ebenezer Frothingham in 1785. It is the only house built in downtown Boston during the Revolutionary period.
